BASE’s PAY ID service celebrates surpassing 20 million user registrations with a two-week promotional campaign featuring social media activities and reward enhancements, marking a significant milestone for the online shopping ecosystem.
BASE said on 17 August that PAY ID had passed 20 million cumulative ID registrations on 16 August, marking a significant milestone for the shopping service aimed at online buyers. To celebrate, the company has launched a two-week thank-you campaign that mixes social media participation with extra point-earning opportunities for app users.
The first phase runs from 17 August to 23 August. According to PAY ID’s official blog, users who follow the service’s X account and repost the campaign post with the hashtag #PAYID2000万 will be entered into a draw for 100 prizes of points worth 2,000 yen each. The second phase follows from 24 August to 31 August, when points earned through PAY ID Rewards will be boosted by 50%.
PAY ID is part of BASE’s wider e-commerce ecosystem and combines ID-based checkout with a shopping app. The service is designed to speed up purchases by storing user details in advance, while also supporting PAY ID points, which can be redeemed from 100 points onward at a rate of 1 point to 1 yen on eligible PAY ID payments. The company also offers deferred payment options, including next-month settlement and three-part instalments with no handling fee.
The app is available on iOS 16.2 and later, and on Android 9.0 and later, according to the App Store and Google Play listings. BASE said the app lets users browse shops on its platform, follow favourite sellers and shop more easily from participating stores. It also pointed to newer features introduced this year, including PAY ID Rewards, launched in April, and friend invitations added in July, both aimed at encouraging repeat use and wider adoption.
