Axis Bank introduces two pioneering customer-focused controls , UPI Limit Management and International Travel Declaration , to strengthen security and simplify management of digital transactions for Indian users, signalling a significant shift in banking safety measures.
Axis Bank has rolled out two new customer-facing controls aimed at making digital payments safer and easier to manage, as Indian banks continue to fine-tune fraud safeguards without adding friction for users. The lender said the tools form part of its Safe Banking proposition and are designed to give customers more say over how they use UPI, India’s instant payments system, as well as how their cards behave when they travel abroad.
The first feature, UPI Limit Management, lets customers set separate spending caps for person-to-person transfers, domestic merchant payments and international merchant payments through the Axis Mobile Banking App. According to the bank, the settings apply across all UPI apps linked to an Axis account, creating a single control point rather than requiring users to adjust limits in each app individually. The feature is being introduced gradually and will be made available more widely soon.
The second addition, International Travel Declaration, is aimed at eligible credit card customers planning overseas trips. By allowing customers to notify the bank of travel plans in advance, Axis says it can better distinguish genuine foreign transactions from suspicious activity that might otherwise trigger declines. The bank said the feature is intended to improve approval rates for legitimate spending while keeping fraud checks in place.
Arnika Dixit, group head for cards, payments and wealth management at Axis Bank, said the launch reflects a broader push to combine security with convenience as digital payments become more central to everyday banking. The bank said the new controls are meant to help customers transact with more confidence, whether they are paying at home or abroad.
