Tamil Nadu's homegrown firms lead a new wave of investment commitment at Vetri Tamil Nadu 2026

Local companies showcased their growing industrial and technological ambitions at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026, signalling a strategic push to bolster the state’s manufacturing and tech sectors with unprecedented commitments and expansions.

Homegrown Tamil Nadu groups took centre stage at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 on Thursday, with local firms accounting for a prominent share of the 97 memoranda of understanding signed as the state sought to reinforce its industrial base and encourage existing employers to expand at home.

Among the larger commitments, Titan Company said it would put ₹1,000 crore into its Hosur operations to expand capacity for premium watches, jewellery and automation equipment used in its electronics business, with the project expected to create 1,200 jobs. Coimbatore-based ELGi Equipments, one of the world’s biggest air compressor makers, plans to spend ₹325 crore on its home facility, while Lucas TVS has lined up ₹2,500 crore across multiple plants. Chennai-founded chip design firm Aheesa Digital Innovations also featured in the group of local companies signing up for new investment.

The conclave reflects a broader push by the Tamil Nadu government to draw capital into manufacturing, technology and advanced industries, while also keeping established companies anchored in the state. Recent announcements have ranged from large-scale clean energy manufacturing to digital infrastructure and deep-tech financing, suggesting that the administration is trying to build a wider industrial pipeline rather than rely on one sector alone.

That strategy has already produced a series of sizeable commitments. Deccan Chronicle reported earlier that Vikram Solar agreed to set up a battery energy storage systems plant in Tirunelveli district with an outlay of ₹15,037 crore and projected employment for 2,670 people. Separately, the IIT-Madras Research Park and Unicorn India Ventures announced a ₹600 crore deep-tech fund with a ₹400 crore greenshoe option, while Cognizant Technology Solutions outlined plans to invest about ₹1,000 crore over five years in Chennai and Coimbatore. Tamil Nadu’s cabinet has also finalised 436 schemes under its “Vetri Tamilagam” programme, underscoring the state’s wider economic push.
