Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is forging local alliances in India and Mexico to enhance its service offerings for large corporate clients, blending local expertise with its global risk management capabilities amidst digital transformation and increased competition.
Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is turning to local partners in India and Mexico as it seeks to deepen its reach with large corporate clients, especially companies that need insurance support beyond their home markets. In India, the company is working with Bajaj General Insurance on coverage for sectors such as high technology and manufacturing, while also planning to support international insurance programmes for Indian firms operating abroad.
In Mexico, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions plans to hand its direct commercial insurance portfolio to GNP Seguros, pending regulatory approval. The insurer said the long-term arrangement will allow it to continue serving Mexican clients through GNP’s distribution network, combining local market access with Swiss Re’s global risk expertise and commercial insurance capabilities. Swiss Re has described its Mexico business as part of a broader Latin American presence that dates back more than a century, and its corporate-solutions unit there offers cover for mid-sized and large companies across areas including liability, cargo, engineering and property risks.
The strategy comes as insurers increasingly compete to offer multinational clients a mix of local knowledge and cross-border execution. Ivan Gonzalez, chief executive of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, said multinational companies now expect insurers to combine local expertise with global capabilities and seamless international delivery. In Mexico, the move also comes against a backdrop of growing digitalisation in the insurance market, with GNP Seguros recently announcing an expansion of its work with Palantir Technologies across multiple lines of business to improve fraud detection, underwriting and claims processing.
