Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched 46 projects spanning manufacturing, energy, technology and services, with the rollout expected to create around 42,500 direct jobs.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has launched 46 industrial projects worth about ₹39,383 crore across 14 districts, in a move the state is presenting as a major step in its manufacturing push and jobs agenda. The projects, unveiled at Kalinganagar in Jajpur district, cover steel, chemicals, petrochemicals, renewable energy, food processing, textiles, logistics, tourism, information technology and electronics, according to reports from The New Indian Express, Business Standard and other Indian publications.
Majhi used the event to cast the initiative as a turning point for the state’s industrial strategy, describing it as part of Odisha’s wider effort to become eastern India’s leading manufacturing base. The chief minister also said the state was working towards a $500 billion economy over the next decade, while officials said the new investments are expected to deepen the industrial ecosystem and draw in more private capital.
The projects are projected to create about 42,500 direct jobs, with additional employment likely to come from transport, supply chains, construction and other supporting activity. That would make the rollout one of the state’s most significant industrial drives in recent years, and it reflects a broader attempt to move beyond project announcements and into execution, with roundtables and one-to-one meetings with industry representatives also reported at the Kalinganagar event.
Spread across 14 districts, the plan is intended to widen industrial development beyond a handful of urban centres and give local economies a stronger role in the state’s growth story. Industry observers say the sector mix matters as much as the headline investment figure: by combining heavy industry with renewable energy, food processing and technology, Odisha is seeking to build a more balanced economic base while reinforcing its reputation as a destination for large-scale manufacturing.
