N Chandrasekaran’s pay at Tata Sons has risen more quickly than the conglomerate’s profits over the past eight years, underscoring a wide gap between executive remuneration and underlying earnings performance across the group. Business Standard reported that Chandrasekaran’s annual compensation, including salary and commission, climbed at a compound annual rate of 14.1% between FY18 and FY26, reaching ₹158.7 crore from ₹55.1 crore.
Over the same period, Tata Sons’ consolidated adjusted net profit fell 11.9% to ₹17,923 crore from ₹20,344 crore, according to the report. Even as the parent’s profits weakened, the combined net profit of Tata’s listed companies more than doubled, rising at a 9.2% compound annual rate to ₹90,698 crore from ₹44,786.5 crore. Business Standard also said the market value of Tata companies grew at a 11.9% compound annual rate between FY18 and FY26.
