India’s infrastructure pipeline remained sizeable in July, with the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation monitoring 1,775 ongoing central sector projects worth ₹37.11 lakh crore through its PAIMANA platform, according to an official release reported by ANI. The ministry said 36 new schemes were added to the tracking system during the month, underlining the continued expansion of the government’s project docket.
Cumulative spending on the monitored projects had reached ₹19.26 lakh crore, or 51.91% of revised cost, suggesting that just over half of the expected outlay had already been incurred. The latest figures also showed that 675 projects, or about 38%, had crossed 80% physical progress, while 305, roughly 17%, had passed 80% of financial completion, indicating a mixed portfolio of near-finished works and schemes still at earlier stages, according to DD India and other reports.
Transport and logistics accounted for the largest share of the total, with 1,246 projects valued at ₹19.81 lakh crore, or 53% of the overall project cost. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had the most projects under watch, at 993, with a revised cost of ₹9.62 lakh crore. Railways was overseeing 190 projects worth ₹6.38 lakh crore, while the coal ministry had 121 projects valued at ₹2.22 lakh crore, according to the ministry data carried by DD India and The Tribune.
Among the projects completed or commissioned in July were the Srikakulam Angul gas pipeline project, costing ₹2,810 crore, as well as the Aligarh-Kanpur Package I and Dwarka Expressway Package III works. The 36 additions to the monitoring system included 16 projects from the telecommunications department, nine from steel, six from road transport and highways, three from commerce and industry, and one each from housing and urban affairs and power. Those included the ₹38,358 crore Meja Thermal Power Project Stage-II, the ₹13,037.66 crore Jaipur Metro Rail Project Phase 2 and a ₹1,418.16 crore greenfield Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata highway project.
