State-owned NBCC temporarily hits a day’s high on the NSE following a significant project win for the Ladakh border, alongside robust June-quarter financial results and strategic expansions, including plans for a real estate investment trust.
NBCC shares briefly climbed to a day’s high on the National Stock Exchange on Thursday after the state-owned construction firm said it had won a ₹234.78 crore project management consultancy contract from the Indo-Tibetan Border Police for work in Ladakh. The assignment covers construction and redevelopment at 28 border outposts, and NBCC said it was awarded in the normal course of business without any related-party element.
The latest win extends a run of large mandates that have kept the company in focus. EquityPandit reported that NBCC recently secured a ₹780.38 crore job from the Reserve Bank of India for an office and residential complex in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh, while also booking a ₹1,236 crore commercial space sale at Bharat Business Park in Sarojini Nagar, New Delhi, which carries a 1% marketing fee.
The contract news comes alongside a solid June-quarter performance. NBCC said consolidated net profit rose 17.2% year on year to ₹154.8 crore in the quarter, even as revenue slipped 6% to ₹2,259.5 crore. Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation climbed 39% to ₹155 crore, lifting the margin to 6.86% from 4.66% a year earlier.
The board also declared a first interim dividend of ₹0.15 per share for FY27 and fixed 17 August as the record date. In a separate development on 11 August, the board approved in principle the creation of a wholly owned subsidiary that would serve as the special purpose vehicle for a proposed real estate investment trust, subject to government clearances.
By Thursday’s close, the stock had given back most of its intraday gains and ended at ₹92 on the NSE, down 0.18% for the session.
