Sun TV shares surge as earnings show strong growth and dividend declared

Shares of Sun TV Network rose on Thursday after reporting a 17% increase in net profit and declaring an interim dividend, despite recent trading pressures.

Sun TV Network shares rose on Thursday after the broadcaster reported stronger quarterly earnings and approved an interim dividend, with the stock touching an intraday high of Rs 511.40 on the BSE before trimming gains. At 2.30pm, the shares were still up 1.52% at Rs 485.65.

In results for the quarter ended June 2026, Sun TV said consolidated net profit climbed 17% year on year to Rs 619 crore from Rs 529 crore. Revenue from operations increased 13% to Rs 1,458 crore from Rs 1,290 crore a year earlier, reflecting firmer operating performance in the June quarter.

Livemint reported that operating profit more than doubled to Rs 511.82 crore, while the operating margin improved to 39.67%. Sun TV also said domestic subscription revenue rose to about Rs 485.46 crore and advertising revenue stood at Rs 282.51 crore, suggesting steady support from both recurring and ad-driven income streams.

The board declared an interim dividend of Rs 5 a share, equal to the face value of the stock, and fixed August 18, 2026, as the record date to determine eligible shareholders. Sun TV said the payout would be made within 30 days of declaration, as required under the Companies Act 2013. Even after Thursday’s rally, the stock remained under pressure over longer periods, having fallen 3% in the past month, 9% in three months and 17% over the past year.
