Tamil Nadu attracts major foreign investments and expands international collaborations at 2026 conclave

The Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026 saw significant commitments from global companies like Daimler, Saint-Gobain, and YKK, reinforcing the state’s position as an export-led industrial hub and fostering international partnerships in technology and skilling.

Tamil Nadu drew a fresh wave of industrial commitments at the Vetri Tamil Nadu Investment Conclave 2026, with global manufacturers including Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, Saint-Gobain and YKK announcing new spending plans as the state continued to position itself as a hub for export-led manufacturing and advanced industry.

According to Business Standard, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles plans to invest ₹4,000 crore to expand its 400-acre Oragadam site for design, research, development and commercial vehicle production. The report said Saint-Gobain will put ₹2,000 crore into a new greenfield plant in Krishnagiri and an expansion in Kanchipuram, while YKK intends to invest ₹1,651 crore in Tiruvallur and create 4,316 jobs. Separately, Daimler Truck has previously said its Indian arm has been building out Oragadam for more than a decade and has made the Tamil Nadu plant a key export base.

The conclave also brought in 25 companies signing agreements to establish their first facilities in India in Tamil Nadu, including Germany’s Bitzer, Taiwan’s Bao Yan India Shoe and Malaysia’s Kinesis Semiconductor. Business Standard said Bitzer will enter India through Kanchipuram with a ₹300 crore investment, while Bao Yan India Shoe plans a ₹240 crore plant in Vellore that will make products for international brands including Geox and L.L.Bean. Kinesis Semiconductor is set to develop what the state described as India’s first localised semiconductor wire-bonding materials facility in Chennai.

Beyond factory investment, the event was used to deepen institutional and commercial links. The government said agreements were signed with Invest Kazakh and New Zealand’s INZBC to support trade, investment and sister-city cooperation, with delegations from Kazakhstan and Christchurch expected later in 2026. Other projects included a Bosch-TIDCO Centre of Excellence in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies, a deep-tech commercialisation tie-up with AIC IGCAR FAST Foundation and a ₹75 crore semiconductor skilling programme from the WOWsemi Foundation aimed at training more than 75,000 people over five years.

The state also announced a new economic partnership with Russia’s Sberbank centred on skilling and technology transfer. Tamil Nadu said the mix of manufacturing commitments, training projects and international partnerships underlined its push to build a globally connected industrial economy with a stronger technology base.
