HeloAir expands niche with safety leadership and regional response capabilities

HeloAir, a Virginia-based helicopter operator with over 30 years’ experience, enhances its regional role through a focus on safety, emergency response, and versatile aerial services, maintaining a fleet of seven helicopters and accident-free records.

HeloAir has spent more than 3 decades building a niche in private helicopter operations across the mid-Atlantic, combining charter flights with utility work, aerial filming and fire suppression. Founded in 1993, the company says its business has expanded steadily while keeping a tight focus on safety and customer service.

The Richmond, Virginia-based operator says it runs a seven-helicopter fleet and has logged 80,000 total flight hours. On its website, HeloAir says it has flown about 36,000 accident-free hours over the past 10 years and holds IS-BAO Stage 2 certification, an aviation safety standard used by business aircraft operators.

HeloAir also promotes a broad service menu that includes emergency response, power line patrols, external-load work and charter flights. The company says its helicopters are used for business trips, leisure travel and specialist assignments for utilities and government clients, including work linked to controlled burns and other public-safety missions.

The operator’s public materials also highlight its scale: about 30 employees, a base at Richmond International Airport and a second location in South Carolina. The company presents that footprint as a way to offer faster response times across the region while keeping maintenance and pilot training central to its safety pitch.
