Yuze Digital India partners with airpay to expand digital payment capabilities and target underbanked markets

Yuze Digital India Private Limited has formed a strategic alliance with airpay India, aiming to enhance digital payment acceptance and broaden financial services in emerging markets, signalling a significant shift in India’s fintech landscape.

Yuze Digital India Private Limited has expanded its India push with a strategic alliance with airpay India, a move the company says will strengthen digital payment acceptance and acquiring capabilities as it builds out a broader financial services stack in the market. The agreement comes after Yuze recently announced an issuance-led partnership in the prepaid payment instrument space, suggesting the company is trying to cover more of the payments chain from both the issuing and acquiring sides.

According to Yuze’s India website, the business positions itself as a financial technology platform aimed at underbanked businesses and individuals in emerging markets and says it is not a bank or a licensed lender. Its India offerings include wallet and RuPay card services delivered through a partnership with Transcorp International Limited, alongside QR-based payment tools designed to let businesses accept contactless payments through their own codes.

Airpay, meanwhile, describes itself as India’s first integrated omnichannel financial services platform and says it has nearly a decade of experience as a payments aggregator. The company says it works with more than 200 financial institutions and over 1,000 business partners worldwide, and its payments infrastructure covers online and offline acceptance, settlement and reporting.

Rabih Sfeir, Yuze Digital’s chief executive, said in the company’s announcement that India is a strategic market and that the partnership with airpay strengthens the acquiring and payment acceptance layer of Yuze’s proposition. Kunal Jhunjhunwala, founder of airpay India, said the alliance reflects a shared plan to build practical payment solutions through technology and operational collaboration. Yuze has also signalled a wider India roadmap, with earlier announcements pointing to a pilot launch aimed at freelancers and gig workers before a broader rollout.
