Universitas Padjadjaran has launched a programme teaching 10,000 new students about online safety, transaction security, and digital financial skills as part of Indonesia’s broader move towards cashless payments, supported by OVO and government partners.
Universitas Padjadjaran has used the start of the academic year to give 10,000 new students lessons in digital finance, online safety and transaction security as Indonesia pushes further into cashless payments. The session formed part of the university’s PRABU 2026 induction programme at Jatinangor on August 11 and was delivered through Fintech Academy x MoneyFestasi, a joint initiative involving OVO, Bank Indonesia and MoneyFestasi.
The event was framed around the theme “Literasi Digital untuk Generasi Muda, Bijak di Media Sosial dan Bertransaksi di Era Digital”, with organisers aiming to show students not just how to use digital financial services but how to recognise risks and protect themselves in online spaces. OVO president director Karaniya Dharmasaputra said the first months of university are a crucial moment for building healthy financial and digital habits, describing the transition into student life as one that demands greater independence in managing money and using online tools responsibly.
The message reflects a wider push by OVO to strengthen financial literacy among young people through its Fintech Academy programme. Reporting by DuniaFintech, iNews, Asatunews, IDN Times, IDX Channel and KRI Jogja has described the scheme as an effort to close the gap between Indonesia’s high digital financial inclusion and comparatively lower financial literacy, while also teaching students to handle digital services safely and make more disciplined money choices. By bringing the programme to campus, OVO and its partners are positioning financial education as part of the shift from school to working life.
