Practical trading ideas surface as index volatility persists and momentum signals rise for Samvardhana Motherson and Leela Palaces

Despite ongoing index pressure and market volatility, expert Pradip Halder highlights tactical investment opportunities in Samvardhana Motherson and Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts, focusing on momentum-driven trades over the coming weeks.

Benchmark indices remain under pressure and volatility is still shaping short-term trading decisions, but Pradip Halder of PHD Capital says there are still opportunities for investors willing to take a tactical view. Speaking on Business Today’s “Daily Calls”, Halder picked Samvardhana Motherson International and Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts as his preferred names for near-term gains, framing both ideas as momentum-led trades rather than long-term holdings.

Halder’s first call is Samvardhana Motherson, which he described as still having room to advance even after touching record highs. He placed the trade on a roughly two-week horizon, with targets of ₹177 and ₹190 and a stop loss at ₹158. The timing comes after the stock rose nearly 9% on Friday to ₹168.90, and consensus data from StockAnalysis shows analysts remain broadly constructive, with a buy rating and an average target of ₹154.82, although individual estimates vary widely.

His second pick is Leela Palaces Hotels & Resorts, which he sees as a breakout setup over a slightly longer period of around one to one and a half months. Halder said the stock has held above its IPO high, posted strong results, then spent time consolidating before moving to all-time highs. On that basis, he suggested a possible 20% rally, with upside targets of ₹575 and ₹625 and a stop loss near ₹461.

That more optimistic stance is not without support from other market data. StockAnalysis says Leela Palaces is trading around ₹475.60, with analysts assigning it a strong buy rating and a 12-month target of ₹560.87. Livemint’s market data also shows the stock has been drawing institutional interest, with mutual fund ownership rising to 6.65% as of March 31, 2026, while FII holdings stood at 8.62%. Separate analyst reviews published by Univest have pointed to further upside under a range of scenarios, though they also note that the stock remains sensitive to earnings momentum and broader mid-cap sentiment.
