Domestic gold prices in India surged again amid rising global demand and easing geopolitical tensions, reaching new weekly highs and signalling strong safe-haven investor interest.
Gold prices in India extended their rally on Saturday, with domestic rates rising again as investors continued to pile into the metal amid firmer global demand. According to Goodreturns, 24-carat gold increased by ₹109 a gram to ₹15,235, while 22-carat gold climbed by ₹100 to ₹13,965 a gram. That left the metal up by more than ₹50,000 for the week, a sharp move that underlines how quickly sentiment has improved.
The latest gains came as bullion traded above $4,200 in overseas markets, helped by easing tensions in the Middle East and softer inflation expectations, Goodreturns reported. Traders were pricing in a 55% chance of a Federal Reserve rate move in September, down from 63% earlier, while Donald Trump suggested the conflict involving Iran could end soon, though he also referred to shortages in weapons supplies. Analysts cited by Goodreturns said $4,000 remained an important support level, with buyers stepping in on dips and some seeing room for a move towards $4,600.
Silver was unchanged in India, holding at ₹245 a gram, while the broader gold market has been marked by unusually wide swings in 2026. Historical price data from RupeeRates and GoldPriceIndia shows that domestic gold has already touched record levels this year, including a peak in late January, while other tracked lows came in well below current prices. The latest rally therefore adds to a year already defined by sharp volatility and strong safe-haven demand.
