Beta Drugs reported a 29.2% rise in first-half revenue and a 45% increase in profit, as Nivian, exports and a broader oncology portfolio strengthened performance.
Beta Drugs reported a sharp improvement in first-half results for fiscal 2027, with revenue rising 29.2% year on year to ₹263 crore and profit after tax climbing 45% to ₹34 crore, according to the company’s earnings-call commentary and subsequent market reports. Management said the business is benefiting from a broader mix of branded oncology, contract manufacturing, API sales and the recently acquired Nivian franchise, while also keeping its full-year growth ambitions deliberately cautious.
Margins also strengthened. The company said EBITDA margin reached 23.18% in the half year, helped by operating leverage, a better mix of higher-margin products and a lower financing burden after convertible debentures were converted into equity earlier in the year. Management argued that branded drugs, contract development and manufacturing, and exports all carry attractive margins, and said the current outlook for 23% to 24% EBITDA margins leaves room for upside if planned efficiencies arrive on schedule.
The branded oncology business grew 17% in the period, with four new products launched and six more planned. Management said five brands are now generating annual sales above ₹5 crore, and that the company’s revenue base remains relatively diversified, with no single product dominating the portfolio. Beta Drugs also said a temporary plant shutdown linked to de-bottlenecking had pushed about ₹6 crore to ₹7 crore of sales into the second half, which helps explain the flatter quarterly trend in the own-brand segment.
Nivian, the acquired business, delivered 75% growth year on year, and management said it expects margins there to improve as synergies with Beta Drugs come through. The company also pointed to a longer-term opportunity in recombinant products, which it said could broaden the addressable market within the next two to three years. On the export side, the company reported a rise from ₹16 crore to ₹43 crore in underlying business, with 872 registrations in the pipeline and an EU audit expected in the next few months.
Management also used the earnings call to underline confidence in the medium-term outlook. It said CMO revenue should reach ₹180 crore to ₹190 crore this year, while exports are guided at ₹90 crore to ₹100 crore, although the business is likely to remain lumpy because of tender timing. Receivables have edged up to 116 days from 113 days, mainly because of longer collection cycles in institutional business, but the company said it remains comfortable with the position. It also said a new API intermediates plant is expected to go live by January 2027, a step that should reduce dependence on China and support the next phase of expansion.
