The brokerage is rolling out access to US-listed shares and ETFs through GIFT City, with fractional holdings available and a wider launch planned for mid-November.
Angel One has started introducing US stock investing on its app, giving Indian investors a way to buy shares in American companies and exchange-traded funds. The brokerage said the service is being rolled out in stages and is currently available to a limited group of users, with a broader launch planned for mid-November. According to the company, the facility was enabled after approval from the International Financial Services Centres Authority for brokers to offer overseas investing through GIFT City.
The platform will allow users to buy fractional holdings as well as full shares, lowering the entry point for investors who want exposure to large US-listed companies. Angel One said the offering includes names such as Apple, Microsoft, Alphabet, Amazon, Nvidia, Netflix, Spotify and Toyota, alongside ETFs. The phased launch suggests the firm is testing demand and onboarding before opening the product to its full customer base.
The move also fits into a wider push by Indian brokerages to expand beyond domestic equities. App store listings for Angel One already show that the platform offers access to thousands of Indian stocks and hundreds of ETFs, along with derivatives, commodities, mutual funds and systematic investment plans. Those listings also note that users can invest in US stocks and ETFs through the app, pointing to an existing infrastructure that the company is now widening for more investors.
Angel One said the rollout could also help build awareness around the mechanics of international investing, including account activation, funding through the liberalised remittance scheme, capital gains taxation and US dividend withholding tax. That educational element matters as more Indian savers look abroad for diversification and for exposure to technology-led themes that are often more readily available in the US market. The IFSCA, which oversees financial services in GIFT City, has been promoting the zone as a regulated hub for cross-border financial activity since its creation in 2020.
