Paytm and AU SFB target family travellers with fee-free card and 12 lounge visits

The lifetime-free Paytm AU SFB RuPay credit card offers rewards on Paytm spending and travel, plus up to 12 family lounge visits a year subject to eligibility conditions.

Paytm and AU Small Finance Bank have launched a lifetime-free RuPay credit card aimed at frequent travellers and families who want airport lounge access without paying an annual fee. According to Business Standard, the Paytm AU SFB Credit Card was announced on 21 October and is being positioned as a card for customers who already use Paytm for everyday spending, travel bookings and gold purchases.

The card offers up to 2% rewards on eligible Paytm UPI transactions, including routine payments such as groceries and cab rides, and 5% rewards on eligible Paytm Travel bookings and Paytm Gold purchases. Reward points can be redeemed for Paytm Gold at a rate of ₹1 per point, as well as for vouchers, bill payments and other benefits. Paytm’s own announcement says the card carries no joining fee or annual fee, while also describing it as a product for mobile-first customers.

Its most distinctive feature is lounge access for families. The companies say cardholders can receive up to 12 complimentary family lounge visits a year on eligible round-trip flights booked through Paytm, with access available for up to four family members travelling together. Lounge entry is handled through a QR code rather than a physical card, which Paytm says is meant to make the process simpler for travellers.

Even so, the value of the product will depend on the details. The benefit is subject to eligibility conditions, and the announcement does not fully spell out how visits are counted, which airports and lounges are included, or what happens once the free allowance is used up. For consumers, that means the card could be attractive if they already book through Paytm and can make regular use of lounges, but it will be worth comparing the terms carefully against other cards before applying.
