Extend has launched Verify, an API that analyses documents for manipulation and AI-generated content before they are used in lending, insurance and other automated workflows.
Extend has launched Verify, a document fraud detection API aimed at helping developers and AI agents judge whether files can be trusted before they shape business decisions. According to Help Net Security, the product is designed to sit in front of workflows that depend on bank statements, invoices, receipts and other records, where fraudulent material can lead to bad lending calls, wrongful claim payments or flawed background checks. Extend says the service is intended to give automated systems a way to spot suspicious inputs before they are acted upon.
The company says Verify looks at visual content, file structure and revision history, then combines specialist models, forensic checks and agentic analysis to surface signs of manipulation. Extend says it can detect AI-generated documents, localised tampering in individual fields, conventional editing such as text patches or image overlays, and changes made after a document has been digitally signed. In a statement quoted by Help Net Security, chief executive Kushal Byatnal said: “Businesses want to move beyond agents that search documents to agents that help get work done in the real economy. That requires trust in the evidence those agents act on. Verify helps developers build document integrity into their pipelines to prevent fraud-related losses, mitigate the difficulty of human review, and scale up agent deployments.”
Extend says the system returns risk scores, explanations and traceable evidence so teams can decide which files need a human review. The company also says a benchmark evaluation found Verify identified 96.3% of fraudulent documents while producing a 4.0% false-positive rate, a balance that matters because fraud screening has to catch suspicious files without overwhelming staff with legitimate alerts. Extend says the API can be used on its own or alongside its wider document processing tools, which already parse, split and extract information from files before handing them to applications or agents.
