Analysts favour patience as Dixon, Marico and Coforge stay on hold list

Experts on NDTV Profit’s Ask Profit advise investors to hold several closely watched stocks, with Coforge standing out as a relative outperformer and caution prevailing on near-term gains.

Investors scanning NDTV Profit’s latest “Ask Profit” segment were steered towards a generally cautious, hold-oriented approach on a clutch of widely followed stocks, with analysts saying several names still have room to run, but not necessarily at current prices. Ruchit Jain of Motilal Financial Services and Avinash Gorakshakar of Avinashmentor.com used the programme to field questions on Dixon Technologies, Marico, Steel Authority of India, Kalyan Jewellers, Suzlon Energy and Coforge, offering more patience than urgency in most cases.

On Dixon Technologies, Gorakshakar argued that the stock deserves to be held for another 12 to 18 months, pointing to the electronics manufacturing services, or EMS, segment as a business that still has substantial growth ahead. That view is broadly consistent with recent operating momentum at the company: ICICI Direct said Dixon posted 29% year-on-year revenue growth, led by the mobile and EMS division, while volumes in that segment remained on track with management’s FY26 goals.

Marico drew a similar response. Gorakshakar said investors already in the stock can stay invested, but new buyers may be better waiting for the second-quarter numbers. That cautious stance comes even as analysts have remained constructive on the consumer group. Livemint reported that Marico delivered 9% volume growth in the June quarter, helped by foods and premium personal care, while Business Standard said analysts expect a stronger operating showing later in FY26 on pricing power and margin recovery. Even so, both reports noted that input-cost pressure and competition remain real headwinds.

Jain’s call on Steel Authority of India was more defensive still. He said the stock should be held with a stop-loss at Rs 160, adding that the near-term chart does not look especially encouraging after a phase of consolidation. Kalyan Jewellers, by contrast, was left in the hold camp by Gorakshakar, who said the company has issued a positive business update and suggested the second quarter could be stronger. The message across both names was clear: neither is being treated as a quick trading idea, but both may still reward investors who can wait.

Suzlon Energy was also tagged as a hold, although Gorakshakar said the shares have been lagging and are unlikely to deliver much in the short term. Coforge was the outlier, with Jain describing it as a relative outperformer within information technology and recommending that investors continue to hold it. Taken together, the advice from the segment suggests a market in which select stock-specific stories still matter, but conviction is being reserved for businesses with visible earnings support and longer operating runways.
