Airtel IQ Gateway revolutionises enterprise messaging with integrated, secure platform

Airtel Business introduces Airtel IQ Gateway, an all-in-one communications platform designed to streamline business messaging, enhance security, and combat fraud across SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, and voice channels in India.

Airtel Business has launched Airtel IQ Gateway, a new enterprise communications platform that brings SMS, WhatsApp, RCS, voice calls and number verification into a single control plane. The company says the system is designed to replace the patchwork of vendors and tools many firms use today, allowing customer messaging to be managed from one place rather than through separate channels and service providers.

The platform also aims to tackle a set of long-running operational problems in business messaging. Airtel says companies often struggle to verify whether messages were truly delivered, while pre-approved template handling can be slow and error-prone. It added that the gateway is meant to provide more intelligent routing across channels, automatic failover to backup providers and native integration with India’s message template regime, known as DLT, which is used to help control spam and misuse.

Security is a central part of the pitch. Airtel says IQ Gateway combines its network intelligence with tools including IQ Verify and Silent Authentication, a SIM-based login method, to help spot fraudulent account creation, account takeovers and artificial traffic spikes. The company says this should also reduce losses linked to SMS pumping, a fraud technique that can generate bogus traffic and inflate enterprise bills.

Sharat Sinha, chief executive of Airtel Business, said in a statement that trust must sit at the heart of digital transactions as India’s digital economy expands. “By embedding trust at the network layer, we are enabling our enterprise customers, especially banks, government departments and logistics firms, to reduce cybercrime losses and strengthen the credibility of every customer interaction.” Airtel said the platform was tested with selected banks, financial institutions and other businesses before its wider launch, and that it complies with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act.
