Despite a 27% drop in its shares since May, Cipher Digital remains an attractive investment, with analysts emphasising its growth prospects and undervalued status amid volatility and high risks.
Cipher Digital has had a rougher run since May, with the shares falling 27% from the author’s previous coverage even as the wider benchmark moved ahead. Yet the investment case has not been rewritten by the sell-off, at least according to the Seeking Alpha piece, which argues that the stock has simply become cheaper rather than fundamentally changed.
The central argument rests on valuation and growth. The article says Cipher now trades on about 8.2 times forward sales, a level it describes as attractive given expectations for triple-digit revenue growth. That view is reinforced by analyst forecasts compiled by StockAnalysis, which show a consensus “Strong Buy” rating and a 12-month target of $32.18, implying more than 100% upside from recent levels.
Cipher itself remains a highly volatile name. StockAnalysis says the company, which builds industrial-scale data centres for Bitcoin mining and high-performance computing hosting, had a market value of about $7bn as of 9 September 2026, with trailing 12-month revenue of $191.09m but a net loss of $1.12bn. Its beta of 3.17 underlines how much more sharply it tends to move than the market overall.
That combination of growth, losses and volatility is why the stock remains controversial. The Seeking Alpha author says recent misses and price swings have not damaged the longer-term thesis, especially if Cipher can keep benefiting from demand tied to data centres and Bitcoin. Other analysis cited in the material points to a broader shift towards AI infrastructure, long-term contracts and a substantial power pipeline, but those ambitions still depend on execution, financing and sustained demand.
