Viyona Fintech’s UPI switch goes live, marking a major step in India’s digital payments infrastructure

Hyderabad-based Viyona Fintech has launched its UPI Switch with Bharat Cooperative Bank, strengthening its foothold in India’s rapidly evolving digital payments ecosystem by offering enterprise-scale transaction processing and compliance features.

Hyderabad-based Viyona Fintech has moved its UPI Switch into live use at Bharat Cooperative Bank, a deployment that gives the company a foothold in the core infrastructure supporting India’s fast-growing digital payments system. According to the company, the rollout connects the bank’s systems to the Unified Payments Interface through Viyona’s switching layer, which sits behind the scenes to process and manage transactions.

The switch is designed to handle more than simple payment routing. Viyona says its platform also covers reconciliation, monitoring, settlement, dispute handling and compliance controls, with support for transaction types including Collect, Pay, Intent, QR, Mandate and AutoPay. The company also says the system has been built for enterprise-scale use and is targeted in particular at cooperative banks, regional rural banks, small finance banks and payment banks.

The deployment marks an important step for Viyona because it moves the product from development and certification into a live banking environment. The company describes itself as an NPCI-certified technology service provider and says its wider stack includes UPI, IMPS, Bharat Bill Payment System, electronic know your customer and eNACH services, along with payment tools for fintechs and banks. Viyona is positioning that broader offering around institutions that want to modernise without building payment infrastructure from scratch.

The timing also reflects how UPI has changed expectations for banking technology in India. As transaction volumes rise, banks need infrastructure that can cope with speed, reversals, fraud controls and uninterrupted availability. Viyona is betting that the next phase of fintech growth will come not only from consumer-facing apps, but from the plumbing that keeps those payments running reliably.
