InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have completed their merger, creating India’s largest AI-driven insurance distribution platform with a national footprint and over ₹6,600 crore in premiums, aiming to reach smaller towns and villages more effectively.
InsuranceDekho and RenewBuy have completed their merger, bringing together two of India’s better-known insurance distribution platforms under the InsuranceDekho brand. Ankit Agrawal will lead the combined business, while the founders of both companies stay involved to preserve continuity as the newly merged group begins the more difficult task of integration.
According to Business Standard and Outlook Business, the combined company says it now has a premium book of more than ₹6,600 crore, a network of over 6 lakh digital partners and reach across 98.57% of India’s pin codes. The firms say they have also helped issue more than 2 crore policies since inception, and the platform now offers more than 750 insurance products across motor, health, life, travel, commercial and corporate lines through ties with 52 insurers.
In an interview with Inc42, Agrawal said the deal was driven by complementary strengths rather than scale for its own sake. InsuranceDekho has a strong base in northern and western India, while RenewBuy is more established in the south, giving the combined company a wider national footprint than either business could build alone. He said the immediate focus is on disciplined execution and a smooth transition for partners and customers.
The merger also reflects a broader push to widen insurance access beyond India’s biggest cities. The Economic Times and NewKerala reported that the combined platform is being positioned as a pan-India distribution network aimed at smaller towns and villages, with better tools for agents and advisers. Agrawal told Inc42 that the company’s advantage lies not only in technology or distribution, but in combining both, with the same adviser able to help a family move from motor cover to health and life policies over time.
Leadership continuity appears to be a central part of the plan. Business Standard and Tribune India reported that Balachander Sekhar and other RenewBuy founders will remain with the organisation, and Agrawal told Inc42 that decision-making will remain collaborative. He said the hardest work now involves bringing together two adviser networks, two technology stacks and two sets of insurer relationships without disrupting the user experience, as the company seeks to compete more directly with rivals such as Policybazaar, Turtlemint and Acko.
