OutSystems launches AI-driven loan application system to modernise banking processes

OutSystems unveils its Agentic Loan Applications, a unified platform combining customer-facing software and governed AI to streamline the consumer lending journey while maintaining compliance and auditability.

OutSystems has launched a new banking product aimed at one of finance’s most stubborn bottlenecks: consumer lending. The company said its Agentic Loan Applications offering is designed to combine customer-facing software, governed AI agents and rule-based workflows in a single system that can sit alongside a bank’s existing technology and help modernise the loan process without handing control to machines.

According to FinTech Global, the platform is intended to reduce the friction that still slows many loan journeys, including lengthy forms, repeated data entry and manual document collection. OutSystems says the system can guide applicants through an agent-assisted process that verifies documents, carries out identity and sanctions checks, and prepares an application for the bank’s loan origination system. The company also says the agents are grounded in each institution’s own policies, systems and dependencies so that decisions remain auditable and under bank oversight.

The launch comes as lenders are under pressure to turn heavy AI spending into measurable gains. OutSystems says its broader Agentic Industry Solutions strategy is meant to help firms move from experimentation to practical use cases that can produce returns more quickly, while still meeting the governance and compliance demands of a tightly regulated sector. On its website, the company says only a small share of enterprises have scaled AI to meaningful business value, which it uses to justify packaged, industry-specific systems rather than isolated tools.

OutSystems says the new loan application system has been tested against multiple criteria, including relevance, accuracy and data protection, and is re-checked when models, prompts or tools change. The company also said it evaluated several models through Amazon Bedrock and chose ones that it says can deliver strong performance at up to 82% lower cost. Luis Blando, the company’s chief product and technology officer, said banks need “governed agentic systems” rather than disconnected agents, while Mike Reynolds of KeyBank said visible governance and full auditability are essential as banks expand AI use.
