Ribbit Capital reduces stake in Groww amid strong growth but rising sell-off activity

Ribbit Capital offloads a significant chunk of its holdings in Groww through bulk deals worth over ₹2,200 crore, marking continued investor exits despite the fintech company’s impressive growth in net profit and revenue.

Ribbit Capital has pared back its holding in Groww again, selling 11.31 crore shares through two bulk deals that fetched about ₹2,217.3 crore, according to NSE data cited by Inc42. Ribbit Capital V sold 6.3 crore shares at ₹196 apiece, while Ribbit Cayman GW Holdings V sold nearly 5 crore shares at ₹196.06 each, putting the combined sale at a discount of less than 0.1% to Groww’s closing price. The buyers were not immediately identified.

The transaction represents roughly 2% of Groww’s equity and comes after a run of large secondary sales by early backers. Inc42 reported that Ribbit still held about a 10.1% stake, or 63.35 crore shares, in the company as of June 30, 2026. The same report noted that Ribbit had already sold 14.2 crore shares in May, shortly after the expiry of the post-listing lock-in period.

The latest sale also follows other recent exits by marquee investors. Inc42 said Y Combinator sold 7.47 crore Groww shares last week for ₹1,435.2 crore, while Friale sold 1.13 crore shares to Goldman Sachs in a deal worth ₹210.4 crore earlier in June. Moneycontrol separately reported that Y Combinator, Ribbit Capital and Peak XV Partners had sold shares worth ₹5,326 crore in open-market trades in May.

The renewed selling has not stopped Groww from posting strong operating numbers. Inc42 reported that the company’s consolidated net profit rose 94.3% to ₹735 crore in the June quarter, while revenue from operations climbed 66% to ₹1,501.4 crore. Even so, the shares slipped 3.3% on the NSE to ₹196.24 after the bulk deals, though they remain more than 26% higher for the year and over 32% above the listing price.
