PhonePe’s PulsePro platform to supply real-time data for India’s infrastructure planning

PhonePe has partnered with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to integrate its PulsePro data platform into the PM GatiShakti system, enhancing real-time, hyperlocal insights for infrastructure and economic development across the country.

PhonePe has signed a memorandum of understanding with India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to plug its PulsePro data intelligence platform into the PM GatiShakti planning system, in a move that underlines the government’s growing reliance on private-sector data for infrastructure and economic planning. The company said the tie-up will allow aggregated, anonymised transaction data to be translated into market signals that can help identify activity trends across locations and business categories.

According to PhonePe, PulsePro is designed to provide near real-time, hyperlocal insights that can support decisions on infrastructure, urban development and rural planning. The platform, launched in July, is built on the company’s payments network and is pitched as a tool for expansion planning, distribution strategy, site selection and category growth. PhonePe has said its network spans more than 700 million registered users and 50 million merchants, covering 99% of India’s postal codes.

The integration will feed PulsePro metrics into the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan portal, which is operated with the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-informatics. The portal was opened to the private sector in 2025, after being launched in 2021 as a central platform for coordinated infrastructure planning and logistics efficiency. By then, 16 social sector ministries had already linked their data to the system, according to reporting from The Economic Times.

MeitY Secretary S Krishnan said the platform’s detailed insights could strengthen planning across markets and geographies. “Data-driven intelligence can play an important role in enabling more informed planning and decision-making. The granular and hyperlocal insights available through PhonePe PulsePro can complement existing datasets and provide additional visibility into emerging trends across markets and geographies,” Krishnan said, according to the company’s statement.
