The South Korean Investor Education Council has introduced ‘Pension Roadmap 360’, a digital guide transforming pension management by encouraging savers to view their retirement funds as active capital, with updates scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday.
South Korea’s Investor Education Council has launched “Pension Roadmap 360”, a web-based guide designed to help people review the state pension, workplace pension and personal pension in one place and then build a plan for retirement income. The council said the project is intended to shift the way savers think about pensions: not as money to be preserved passively, but as capital that should be managed over the long term so it can keep working for them.
The content is divided into four sections covering the need for pension planning, the National Pension Service, retirement and personal pensions, and other pension products and withdrawal strategies. It runs to 30 instalments and includes practical examples to help readers match the material to their own circumstances. The council said it also covers the full pension life cycle, from saving and investing to drawing down funds in retirement, alongside issues such as tax planning and account management.
That broader approach reflects the way South Korea’s retirement system works in practice. The Financial Supervisory Service says the national pension is intended to provide a basic old-age income, while workplace pensions and personal pensions are increasingly important for replacing a sufficient share of earnings after retirement. The Ministry of Employment and Labour has also been pushing reforms to improve portability and transparency in retirement benefits, underlining the pressure on workers to manage multiple sources of pension income more carefully.
The new guide also gives attention to income that may come later in life through products such as housing pensions and farmland pensions, as well as risks linked to withdrawals and health insurance contributions. According to the Investor Education Council, the aim is to help users see how each piece fits into a single retirement plan, rather than treating pension products as separate, one-off decisions. The council said the series will be released sequentially every Tuesday and Thursday on its website and social media channels, with an additional Thursday posting on Npay Money Story.
