Cashfree Payments nears ₹1,000 crore revenue milestone amid strategic expansion

Cashfree Payments approaches a ₹1,000 crore revenue target in fiscal 2025-26, driven by diversification into cross-border and AI-enabled payments, as it intensifies efforts to achieve operational profitability.

Cashfree Payments has come close to the ₹1,000 crore revenue milestone in fiscal 2025-26, as the Bengaluru-based fintech continued to expand across payments and adjacent services. According to Inc42, operating revenue rose 51.1% to ₹967 crore from ₹640.1 crore a year earlier, while total income reached ₹972.5 crore after other income. The company also cut its net loss by 23.1% to ₹118.5 crore, suggesting that scale is improving the economics of the business even as costs remain heavy.

The growth reflects a broader push beyond a standard payment gateway. Founded in 2015 by Akash Sinha and Reeju Datta, Cashfree says it serves more than 20 lakh businesses and handles about $80 billion in annual transactions. Its product set now includes cross-border payments, payout tools, banking application programming interfaces and identity verification services, and it has also moved into agentic payments, allowing AI systems to initiate invoices and payments through its MCP server.

The company’s latest figures also show that its revenue mix is widening. Payment gateway commissions contributed ₹889.7 crore in FY26, up 85% year on year, while payouts brought in ₹69.4 crore and cross-border payments generated ₹8 crore, compared with none in FY25, according to Inc42. The Economic Times reported that Cashfree expects cross-border operations to become a more important source of income, and that it achieved EBITDA profitability in March 2026. That publication said the company is targeting full-year EBITDA profitability in FY27, after gross transaction value on its platform rose 78% year on year in the March 2026 quarter.

Even so, the business is still spending aggressively to support growth. Total expenses climbed 37.3% to ₹1,090.9 crore in FY26, led by payment gateway processing charges of ₹697.6 crore. Employee costs came to ₹239 crore, while promotional spending eased to ₹17.8 crore. Cashfree, which has backing from investors including Y Combinator, Apis Partners, State Bank of India and Krafton, has raised nearly $94 million to date. Krafton led a $53 million round in 2025 at a reported $700 million valuation, underscoring investor confidence in the company’s prospects as it pushes towards operational profitability.
