Gold prices in Bengaluru rise for fourth consecutive session amid global bullish sentiment

Gold rates in Bengaluru surged for the fourth straight day across all major categories, driven by international market trends and investor sentiment, prompting jewellery buyers to adopt a cautious approach amidst ongoing volatility.

Gold prices in Bengaluru extended their climb for a fourth straight session on Tuesday, with rates rising across 24, 22 and 18 carat categories, according to Goodreturns data. The 24 carat price moved up by ₹23 a gram to ₹15,589, while 22 carat gold increased by ₹20 to ₹14,290 a gram and 18 carat gold rose by ₹16 to ₹11,692 a gram. Silver was unchanged at ₹250 a gram, or ₹2,50,000 a kilogram, even as gold continued to attract buyers looking for a hedge against uncertainty.

The latest move came against a broadly firm backdrop in precious metals, with the report noting bullish sentiment in India and overseas. International gold prices were trading below $4,400 an ounce, but remained supported by concerns over inflation, oil-market volatility and expectations that the US Federal Reserve may not deliver another rate rise. In the broader context, gold has seen sharp swings in recent years; market trackers showed both global and Indian prices moving through wide ranges in August 2023, underlining how quickly sentiment can change.

For jewellery buyers, the practical lesson is to avoid chasing every move higher and instead watch for pullbacks, especially if the purchase is discretionary rather than urgent. Tata Mutual Fund has said a strategic mix of precious metals can make sense for investors, suggesting a 70:30 split between gold and silver as a broad framework, with gold carrying the larger weight because of its defensive qualities. That said, the best approach for ordinary buyers is usually to compare making charges, purity and resale value rather than focusing only on the headline rate.
