CDSL’s multilingual animated film with Amar Chitra Katha aims to boost financial literacy among rural and urban investors

Central Depository Services (India) Ltd’s Investor Protection Fund has launched ‘The Garden of Prosperity’, a multilingual animated film featuring Akbar and Birbal, to simplify financial planning concepts and foster greater investor participation across India.

Central Depository Services (India) Ltd’s Investor Protection Fund has released a multilingual investor education film with Amar Chitra Katha in an effort to make financial planning easier to understand for a wider audience. The animated feature, “The Garden of Prosperity”, uses Akbar and Birbal to show a newly married couple how to put their wedding gifts to work through goal-based investing, diversification, matching investments to time horizons and keeping an emergency fund.

The film is available in 12 languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Odia and Assamese. CDSL said the aim is to reach investors across both urban and rural areas and to present core investing ideas in a format that feels familiar, simple and memorable.

Shudish Pillai, head of the CDSL IPF Secretariat, said the organisation believes financial education works best when complicated ideas are turned into relatable stories. He said the combination of Akbar and Birbal with practical money lessons is intended to help people invest with more confidence and take part in the securities market in a more informed way.

The latest film builds on CDSL IPF’s earlier work with Amar Chitra Katha on investor education comics, part of a wider push to broaden financial literacy through storytelling. The collaboration has already produced titles such as “The Unofficial Ustaad” and “The Golden Peacock Fraud”, and CDSL says the broader campaign is aimed at making investor education more accessible to first-time and younger investors.
