Despite the e-KYC deadline for LPG consumers having passed, users continue to encounter technical issues with app crashes, failed face scans, and server errors. The Oil Ministry reassures that offline verification remains available, highlighting continued reliance on traditional methods amid digital disruptions.
Many LPG consumers are still running into technical trouble even after the e-KYC deadline has passed, with users of Indane, HP Gas and Bharat Gas reporting repeated app crashes, failed face scans and server errors, according to Goodreturns. The verification drive was meant for eligible households that had not already completed Aadhaar-based biometric authentication by August 16, 2026, but the Oil Ministry has said people who finished the process earlier do not need to do it again.
The process depends on the official app for each distributor, together with Aadhaar FaceRD for face authentication. Goodreturns says the most common fixes include updating both apps, clearing the LPG app cache, checking camera permissions, confirming that the Aadhaar-linked mobile number is active and switching between mobile data and Wi-Fi if the process stalls. Users have also been advised to try again during quieter hours if server traffic appears to be the problem.
If the digital route keeps failing, the report says consumers can still go to their LPG distributor and ask for offline biometric authentication. In some cases, delivery staff may also carry a mobile biometric device that can be used during a cylinder drop-off. For Indane customers, Goodreturns cites the toll-free helpline 1800-2333-555 as another route for support.
The practical message for consumers is that a missed deadline does not automatically mean the process is closed. The verification requirement is aimed at subsidy and account validation, not at cutting off connections for households that are still trying to complete e-KYC. Keeping Aadhaar and consumer details ready, and escalating through official channels when the apps fail, remains the quickest way to resolve the issue.
