Voltas Ltd reports a 51.3% rise in first-quarter net profit driven by robust summer demand and expansion in its room air-conditioner business, even as its engineering services segment faces challenges amid geopolitical uncertainties.
Voltas Ltd has reported a sharp rise in first-quarter profit, with the air-conditioning maker and engineering services group benefiting from a strong summer demand cycle and gains in its room air-conditioner business. The company said consolidated net profit rose 51.3% to ₹212.76 crore in the June quarter, while revenue from operations increased 18.65% to ₹4,673.5 crore. The latest figures reinforce Voltas’ position as one of India’s best-known cooling brands at a time when peak-season sales have supported the broader category.
In its earnings statement, Voltas said performance in room air conditioners was a key driver of the quarter, with revenue from unitary cooling products rising 32.27% year on year to ₹3,793.51 crore. The company said its room air-conditioner business recorded 45% volume growth and that it expanded its secondary market share to 17.3% for the period to June 2026, widening its lead over the nearest rival. Voltas attributed the gains to brand spending, product differentiation, tighter portfolio management, wider distribution and stronger manufacturing and supply-chain execution.
The company also said Voltbek Home Appliances, its joint venture with Turkey’s Arcelik, posted its highest quarterly sales by both value and volume. According to the earnings statement, the brand continued to improve its position in home appliances, with year-to-date market shares of 9.4% in washing machines and 7.4% in refrigerators. Voltas added that improved margins in the segment helped offset cost pressures from commodity inflation and a weaker rupee, partly through pricing actions, sourcing changes, localisation and manufacturing efficiencies.
By contrast, the engineering and projects arm was weaker. Revenue from electro-mechanical projects and services fell 27.12% to ₹671.81 crore, although Voltas said its domestic projects business won strategic orders during the quarter. The company said international projects remained affected by geopolitical uncertainty and delayed new bookings after the conflict in West Asia. Even so, the carry-forward order book for the segment stood at more than ₹6,345 crore at the end of June, giving some visibility on future work.
Revenue from engineering products and services increased 17.3% to ₹158.85 crore, helped by demand for crushing and screening equipment, ongoing operations and maintenance contracts, and steady performance in Mozambique. Total expenses rose 17.14% to ₹4,442.04 crore, but the company said profitability improved despite higher input costs and currency pressure. Managing Director Mukundan Menon C P said the quarter reflected the strength of Voltas’ brands and business model, pointing in particular to the milestone of selling 1 million room air conditioners in 81 days.
