Banks across India will observe three closure days between August 17 and August 23, primarily affecting branch operations. Customers are advised to plan accordingly, though digital banking services will remain available throughout the period.
Banks across India are set for closures on three days between August 17 and August 23, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar, making it worth checking ahead before planning a branch visit for cash deposits, cheque clearance, locker access or paperwork. The schedule affects physical branches rather than digital services, so customers using UPI, NEFT, RTGS, mobile banking or net banking should still be able to transact as usual.
The week begins with normal branch operations on Monday, August 17, and Tuesday, August 18. The first closure falls on Wednesday, August 19, when banks in Agartala will remain shut for the birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. The holiday is specific to Tripura and does not apply nationwide. Branches will also be open on Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21.
The next nationwide closure comes on Saturday, August 22, which is the fourth Saturday of the month. Banks across India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, followed by the regular weekly holiday on Sunday, August 23. ATMs are expected to remain available throughout the period, and other routine digital banking services should continue without interruption.
