India Post Payments Bank has introduced its new mobile banking app in Rae Bareli, aiming to expand access to financial services in rural and urban regions through secure digital transactions, QR code payments, and user-friendly features.

According to the report from InformalNewz, the launch is intended to support Digital India and make everyday transactions easier for customers in rural and urban areas alike.
Postal superintendent Anoop Kumar said the app will let users check balances, move money, pay bills and view account details without visiting a bank or post office. The bank says the service is designed to be simple and secure, with registration available through app-store downloads and login protected by an MPIN.
The launch also includes QR code-based payments, which the postal department says should make digital transactions more practical for merchants and customers. That could be especially useful for small traders, farmers and other users who rely on quick, low-cost payments, while also reducing dependence on cash.
The move comes against the wider backdrop of IPPB’s push into mobile and assisted digital banking. The bank, which is wholly owned by the government under the Department of Posts, says its network of post offices and postal staff gives it reach in districts, towns and villages across India. Its mobile app already supports features such as UPI transfers, bill payments, merchant payments and links to post office savings accounts, while the bank says it is also working to build awareness of the service locally.
