Mysuru EPFO launches campaign to widen social security coverage and regularise informal workers

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s Mysuru regional office has initiated the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 to include more workers into India’s retirement savings system, offering a compliance relief window until October 2026.

The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation’s regional office in Mysuru has begun a drive to bring more workers into India’s retirement savings system, launching the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 to widen social security coverage. According to a statement issued in Mysuru, Regional PF Commissioner-1 Shadakshara Gopala Reddy urged eligible employers to take part in what the office described as a one-time compliance relief measure that will run until October 31, 2026.

The campaign is aimed at employees who should have been covered by the provident fund regime but were left out between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2026. Under the terms set out by EPFO, employers can regularise such workers without having to pay the employee’s share of contributions if it was not deducted from wages. Instead, they are required to pay the employer’s share, interest, administrative charges and a nominal damage of ₹100.

EPFO says the initiative is intended to strengthen formal employment and encourage voluntary compliance with the Employees’ Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act. Employers must complete the process through the EPFO Employer Portal using the dedicated EEC-2026 module, which includes online declaration, face authentication-based Universal Account Number generation, Electronic Challan-cum-Return filing and digital submission of declarations.

The Mysuru office said it has been holding awareness sessions, employer meetings and other outreach efforts across the region to help establishments use the scheme before the deadline. It described the campaign as an opportunity for firms to regularise workers while extending access to provident fund, pension and insurance benefits, and asked employers to approach the regional office or the employer portal for assistance.
