Paytm unveils a tricolour-themed update to its app, introducing enhanced privacy features, intuitive expense tracking, and tools for family and group spending, all built on a cleaner interface and existing financial tools.
Paytm has given its app a tricolour-themed Independence Day refresh, using the occasion to draw attention to a broader redesign built around payments, budgeting, privacy and security. According to Techlomedia, the festive version sits on top of a cleaner interface that already groups core financial tools in one place, including UPI payments, balance checks, rewards and spending insights.
The latest push also highlights a set of features aimed at making the app easier to use day to day. LiveMint reported that Paytm’s redesign includes tools such as Total Balance, which brings together balances from linked bank accounts, and Monthly Spend Summary, which automatically sorts outgoings into categories such as shopping, bills, travel and utilities. Paytm’s blog says the app also adds automatic spend categorisation, with tags shown in the Balance & History section so users can review where their money is going without checking each transaction one by one.
Privacy and control are central to the update. Techlomedia said the app now promotes Hide Payments, which lets users conceal selected transactions, as well as personalised UPI IDs and transaction labels to help users manage how payment details appear. LiveMint and Paytm’s own product posts also point to biometric authentication and Magic Paste, a feature that detects payment details pasted into the app and fills in account and IFSC information automatically.
Paytm is also leaning on features designed for families and shared spending. Techlomedia said Paytm Pocket Money is aimed at teenagers, giving them access to UPI payments while allowing parents to monitor and control spending. For group expenses, Split Bills lets users divide costs and settle up through UPI. The company is also promoting Gold Coins rewards, which can be earned on eligible payments and redeemed for digital gold, while eligible users can continue to use Postpaid, Paytm’s credit line on UPI. The company has not announced any new payment rail or major financial service as part of the Independence Day edition, suggesting the refresh is largely about presentation and showcasing features already being built into the app.
