Gland Pharma’s shares surged nearly 2% as the company announced Deepak Sapra, former Dr Reddy’s Laboratories executive, as its next CEO amid robust quarterly earnings and renewed investor interest.
Gland Pharma shares climbed nearly 2% on Friday after the company named Deepak Sapra, currently chief executive of API and Services at Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, as its next chief executive officer. The stock touched a fresh 52-week high as investors responded to the leadership change and the company’s recent operating momentum, according to Zee Business and Business Standard.
Sapra will take over on November 16, 2026, bringing more than 23 years of pharmaceutical industry experience to the Hyderabad-based drugmaker. At Dr Reddy’s, he oversees growth across the US, Europe, Japan, Brazil, China, Mexico and the Middle East, and he also serves on the board of Aurigene Pharma Services. The move comes after Shyamakant Giri stepped down as chief executive on April 30, 2026, leaving Gland Pharma with a long transition window before the new appointment takes effect.
The management change follows a strong first quarter for FY27. Gland Pharma said net profit rose 47.1% year on year to Rs 317 crore, while revenue from operations increased 19.6% to Rs 1,800.2 crore. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, or EBITDA, increased 33.1% to Rs 489.2 crore, with the margin improving to 27.2% from 24.4% a year earlier.
Business Standard reported that the stock had already reached a 52-week high of Rs 2,574 on July 8, with the company’s market capitalisation at about Rs 40,110 crore. The shares have also moved well above their 52-week low of Rs 1,575 set in March, reflecting renewed investor interest as Gland Pharma enters its next phase of leadership.
