Indian shares are set for a cautious opening on Friday, 14 August, amid mixed global signals and a busy earnings calendar that could influence trading sentiment. Investors await key results from major companies while monitoring international markets and commodity prices.
Indian shares are set for a subdued start on Friday, 14 August, with Gift Nifty futures pointing slightly lower even as the broader global backdrop remained mixed. Business Standard reported that Japan’s Nikkei 225 and South Korea’s Kospi were in positive territory in early trade, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng slipped. In the United States, the S&P 500 closed at a record high overnight and the Dow Jones Industrial Average and Nasdaq Composite also ended higher, while Brent crude eased after a recent run-up on concerns about demand.
That global tone is likely to keep benchmark stocks in focus, alongside a heavy slate of earnings announcements. Companies due to report results include Alkem Laboratories, Physicswallah, Bharat Dynamics, 3M India, Ashok Leyland, Dishman Carbogen Amcis, Easy Trip Planners, GVK Power & Infrastructure, Jinkushal Industries, Kwality Walls India, Natco Pharma, NMDC, Apeejay Surrendra Park Hotels, Patanjali Foods, Puravankara, Schneider Electric Infrastructure, Suraj Estate Developers, Tube Investments of India, Turtlemint Fintech Solutions, Zee Media Corporation, INDO-MIM and State Trading Corporation, according to Business Standard.
Among the companies already reporting numbers, Premier Explosives posted a sharp decline in quarterly profit and weaker margins, while Welspun Living, Technocraft Industries, Genus Power and Engineers India all delivered stronger earnings growth. Business Standard said Welspun and Technocraft outperformed expectations, while Engineers India more than doubled profit despite lower revenue. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, by contrast, reported a steep drop in profit, hurt in part by a foreign exchange loss, even as revenue rose. LG Electronics India and Honasa Consumer also turned in higher profit and revenue for the quarter.
Corporate deal flow and order wins are also expected to influence trading. Business Standard reported that Saatvik Green Energy secured fresh module orders, Ashoka Buildcon won a transmission project from REC Power Development & Consultancy and Oswal Pumps bagged a solar-related contract from North Bihar Power Distribution Company. DCX Systems said its joint venture signed an additional memorandum of understanding with the Tamil Nadu government, while Apar Industries completed a qualified institutional placement. Thyrocare Technologies saw a large share sale by Docon Technologies, and Tata Group companies may stay in view after Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran tendered his resignation, according to the report.
